The museum opened in 1997 and became the symbol of the city's change from an industrial port. The building is made of curved titanium, glass and limestone, and the atrium is the main space. Inside, permanent works by artists such as Richard Serra share the halls with temporary exhibitions. The ticket includes an audio guide that you open with a QR code on your phone.
