The park opened in 1879 as the Passeggio Regina Margherita and keeps much of its original layout, which follows the romantic style of English parks. Etruscan tombs were found during construction, and a travertine tomb from that find stands by the central lawn. A short open stretch of the Savena canal, dating to 1176, runs along the south side of the pond. Opening hours are not listed on the tourism page.
