Cordoba
Cordoba in the rain
A wet day is easy to fill: the Mezquita, the Archaeological Museum, the Julio Romero de Torres Museum, the Caliphal Baths, the Calahorra Tower and Mercado Victoria are all indoors. The Judería lanes and the patios are best kept for dry weather, and Medina Azahara is mostly outdoors.

Mezquita-Catedral
A mosque begun in the 8th century and later turned into a cathedral, known for its forest of red and white arches. The visit runs from the courtyard of orange trees through the columned hall and the mihrab to the cathedral nave built inside.
The free morning visit (Monday to Saturday, 8:30 to 9:20 entry) does not admit groups, so the hall is quieter than later in the day. Come for the first look, then return later if you want a guide.
Tickets are sold online and at the reception centre in the Patio de San Eulogio. Buying ahead online saves time at the desk, and a guided visit starts at a fixed time.
In November it opens Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 18:00 and Sunday 8:30 to 11:30 and 15:00 to 18:00. Hours change through the year and on feast days (on 2 November it opened 10:00 to 17:00), and some days close earlier, so check the date on the official page. Last entry is half an hour before closing. There is a free visit Monday to Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30, with entry stopping at 9:20.

Go at a quiet moment to find a table, and order from a few stalls to share. It is a good option when you want a meal away from the Mezquita crowds.
Breakfast in the café from 9:00. The food area is open Sunday to Thursday 12:00 to 0:30 and Friday, Saturday and the eve of a holiday 12:00 to 2:00. Kitchens at the stalls stop half an hour before closing.
