The square is the access point to the surrounding quarters and is part of the medina of Marrakech, a World Heritage site. By day you see horse-drawn carriages, stalls and entertainers. As night falls the stalls multiply and the square becomes the city's main meeting place. Keep your valuables close, and ask before photographing performers, who usually expect a tip.
