Basilica of Sant Francesc
A Gothic basilica with a quiet cloister beside it. The visit is short, and the cloister is the main reason to go.
Go in the morning and keep the afternoon slot for the cloister, as the hours are split by a midday break.
The tourist office lists the cloister Monday to Saturday from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 15:30 to 18:00. Sundays are not listed. The basilica may follow its own schedule, so call +34 971 712 695 to be sure.

Arab Baths
A small bathhouse that survives from Muslim Palma, with a domed hot room on columns and a garden. It is quick and cheap.
Go in the morning, when the garden is quiet, and combine it with a walk to the nearby old streets.
10:00 to 19:00, in both the winter and summer seasons, according to the city tourist office. Closing days are not listed, so check the tourist office page before a special date.

Palma Cathedral (La Seu)
The Gothic cathedral of Mallorca, standing on the sea wall with views over the bay. It is the first stop for most visits, and its opening hours are shorter than those of most sights.
Go as soon as it opens on a weekday. In winter the doors close mid-afternoon, so do the cathedral first and the lanes afterwards.
Tickets are sold at the cathedral. If you want a guided visit in Spanish, book it ahead.
From 2 November to 31 March, Monday to Friday 10:00 to 15:15 and Saturday 10:00 to 14:15. In April, May and October it is open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 17:15, and from June to September 10:00 to 18:15. Saturdays are 10:00 to 14:15 all year. The tourist office page does not list Sundays or last admission.

Almudaina Palace
The royal palace opposite the cathedral, a former Moorish fortress that is now a museum of state rooms. Entry is by time slot and the visit is quick.
Book a morning slot and visit the palace first, then cross to the cathedral. A free entry window applies on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons, with proof, so expect queues then.
Buy a ticket online for a date and time slot, as slots run every 15 minutes through the day. A ticket office also sells tickets on the day. Guided visits in Spanish, English and German run at set times and cost extra.
Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 18:00 from October to March, and 10:00 to 19:00 from April to September. Closed on Mondays, on 1 and 6 January, 1 May and 24, 25 and 31 December, and sometimes for official events.

Parc de la Mar
A park with a long salt-water lake below the sea wall, planted with palms. It is the best place to see the cathedral as a whole.
Come at the end of the afternoon, when the cathedral stands out against the sky and the lake reflects it.

Passeig del Born
A tree-lined boulevard in the middle of the old town, with the Casal Solleric cultural centre at number 27. It is a pleasant place for a stroll and a coffee.
Walk it in the late afternoon, then branch off into the side streets that lead down to the cathedral.
