What stretches or shortens Seville
Seville is easy to cross on foot, so distance is not what takes the time. The Alcázar and the cathedral each fill a morning on their own, and both work better with tickets bought in advance. Heat from June to September pushes outdoor sights into the early morning and the evening, and the museums fill the middle of the day. Several places close on Mondays, and Sunday hours are short at the cathedral and the churches. Plaza de España and María Luisa Park sit apart from the old centre and are worth a separate half day.
Common questions
Is one day in Seville enough?
One day covers the Alcázar, the cathedral and a walk through Santa Cruz if you start early and book ahead. It leaves out María Luisa Park, Triana and the museums. A second day lets you slow down, which matters in the heat.
Do I need to book the Alcázar and the cathedral?
Both sell tickets at the door, but queues build at weekends and in spring. Buying online lets you skip the box office, and the cathedral ticket carries an access time.
When is the best time to visit Seville?
March, October and November have daytime highs between 20 and 26°C and fewer crowds than April. April brings Holy Week and the April Fair, which fill the city. July and August average 36°C in the afternoon.
Is Seville a walkable city?
Yes. The old centre is flat and the Alcázar is about 25 minutes from Triana on foot. Plaza de España is the one stop that is farther away, about 15 minutes from the cathedral.
