Puerta de Bisagra
The main gate of the old town on the north side, with a large coat of arms and two round towers. It is the usual entrance for visitors who arrive by road.
Walk through the gate and into the old town on foot, rather than driving through, to get the full effect of the walls.

Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca
A synagogue from the Almohad period with horseshoe arches on rows of white pillars, later used as a church. The hall is small and bright and takes little time.
Go at opening time, when the hall is empty and you can see the arches without groups.
10:00 to 17:45 every day, and the ticket office closes 10 minutes earlier. The closing time can be later in summer, so check the Toledo Monumental page before you go.

Church of Santo Tomé
A small church in the Jewish quarter that holds El Greco's Burial of the Count of Orgaz. The visit is short and centred on one painting.
The room is small and fills quickly when a group arrives, so go at opening time or in the last hour.
10:00 to 17:45 from 16 October to 28 February, and 10:00 to 18:45 from 1 March to 15 October. The ticket office closes 10 minutes before closing.

Toledo Cathedral
The Gothic cathedral of Spain's primate, with a cloister, a chapter house, a sacristy with El Greco paintings and a gallery of old masters. Visitors enter by a single door and the ticket carries a date and time.
Go as soon as it opens, when the nave is quiet and the light reaches the main altarpiece. Leave the afternoon for the lanes.
The ticket is valid only for the date and time printed on it, and it does not allow re-entry. Buy online or at the cathedral shop opposite the Puerta Llana, which is the only entrance for visitors. In busy periods pick your time ahead.
Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 18:30, Sunday 14:00 to 18:30. Closed on 1 January and 25 December. On 24 and 31 December it opens from 10:00 to 14:00, and on 6 January, 15 August and Holy Week days it opens from 14:00. Admission stops 30 minutes before closing.
