The garden was created in 1746 to a design by Ange-Jacques Gabriel and is described as the first garden in France planned from the start to be open to the public. In 1858 it was reworked in an English style by Louis-Bernard Fischer, and the old botanical garden moved there that year. Today it has an arboretum of about 150 tree species, a serpentine basin of about one hectare with a waterfall and three iron footbridges, and the Muséum de Bordeaux in the Hôtel de Lisleferme.

Tip

It is a good break after the Quinconces, and works well with children thanks to the playgrounds, the carousel and the puppet theatre.
