The Belfry stands on Markt and has watched over the city for centuries, with the City Halls below it. The climb is 366 steps up narrow stairs, so it is a real effort. At the top you see Bruges and the countryside around it, and on a clear day all the way to the sea. The carillon in the tower has 47 bells.
