Puerta del Sol
The central square of Madrid, where the Kilometre Zero plaque marks the point from which Spain's roads are measured. The bear and strawberry tree statue and the Tío Pepe sign are nearby. It works as a transit hub more than a place to stay.

Sol is the central square of Madrid and the point where the old city's main roads met. A plaque on the pavement in front of the Real Casa de Correos marks Kilometre Zero, the start of Spain's road network. The clock on that building is the one people watch at midnight on New Year's Eve and eat twelve grapes to. The square is more a junction than a place to sit.
