Italy's main science museum, in a former convent. Galleries of machines, planes, trains and ships sit next to the Leonardo da Vinci collection, and it works well on a rainy day with children.

The museum is a big collection of machines and large objects in a monastery and its pavilions. You see rail, naval, air and space transport, the history of computing and physics, and the Leonardo galleries with models of his machines. The Enrico Toti submarine and the Marconi detector are among the highlights.

From 15 September 2026: Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 to 17:00, and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 9:30 to 18:30. Entry is allowed until one hour before closing. Closed on non-holiday Mondays, 24 and 25 December and 1 January. Some days have special opening hours, posted on the museum site.

Tickets and booking

Adult ticket €13. The full ticket is 13 and the reduced ticket is 8. The museum page lists who qualifies.

On weekends access is not guaranteed for visitors without an online ticket, so book a date and time online.

Getting there

Take M2 to Sant'Ambrogio and walk down Via San Vittore.

Tip

Pick a few galleries rather than trying to see everything, because the museum is large. The family trails for ages 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 can be downloaded from the site.
