Leonardo's Last Supper
Leonardo's wall painting fills one end of the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Visits are limited to groups of about 40 people for 15 minutes, so the booked time is the whole point of the trip.

Leonardo painted the Last Supper on the end wall of the Dominican refectory in the late 15th century, using a dry technique that has made it fragile ever since. Air treatment and controlled entry keep it stable, which is why the visit is so short. You stand in the room facing the painting, with Montorfano's Crucifixion on the opposite wall.
What to look for
- The perspective lines that run towards Christ's head
- The reactions of the twelve apostles in four groups of three
- Montorfano's Crucifixion on the facing wall
- The refectory itself, left as a plain room
