The park covers about 386,000 square metres and was laid out in the late 19th century on the old castle parade ground. Its paths cross lawns and tree-lined stretches, and there are ponds, a small bridge and a library inside the grounds. The Civic Aquarium and the Triennale design museum stand at its edges.
