The arcades go back to the 14th century, when merchants built loggias along the street, and the Medici later rebuilt them in stone. The Casa Vanni is one of the best preserved loggia houses, and it faces the house where Vincenzo Galilei lived in the 1560s and 1570s. The church of San Michele in Borgo, founded in 1016, stands at numbers 8 to 12. A pharmacy at number 31 dates from 1713.
