Alcázar of Segovia

Go when it opens, before the groups arrive, and climb the tower first if you want the view of the Eresma valley in clear morning light.
Buy tickets online on the official ticket site. The Alcázar strongly recommends buying ahead, because tickets, especially those with the Torre de Juan II, often sell out on weekends, long weekends and holidays.
From 1 November to 31 March it is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00, and from 1 April to 31 October from 10:00 to 19:30. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing. On 6 November it opens at 11:30, on 24 and 31 December it closes at 14:30, and on 25 December it is closed.

Roman aqueduct
The Roman aqueduct that crosses Plaza del Azoguejo on two tiers of granite arches. It stands in the open, so it has no hours and no ticket.
Come in the early morning or near sunset, when the stone is warm and the square is quiet, and walk up the stairs beside the arches for a second view.

The main square of the old town, with the cathedral on one side and arcaded cafés around it. It is the natural place to stop between monuments.
Take a table on the edge for a coffee, and cross the square more than once, since it is the hinge of every walk.
