The mosque was built in 999 and later turned into a church, with a Mudéjar apse added in the 12th century. Inside, nine small vaults sit on four columns with Visigothic capitals, and the brick arches mix horseshoe and lobed forms. Few buildings in Spain show Caliphate art so clearly.
