La Rambla is a tree-lined pedestrian strip of just over a kilometre between two narrow traffic lanes, running from Plaça de Catalunya to the Columbus monument at the port. It passes flower stalls, the Boqueria market, the Liceu opera house and the turn into Plaça Reial. It is crowded at any hour and works best as the link between the old town and the waterfront rather than a destination in itself.
What to look for
- The Font de Canaletes at the top of the street
- The Joan Miró pavement mosaic near the Boqueria
- The Gran Teatre del Liceu opera house
- The Columbus monument at the port end
