Park Güell
Gaudí's hillside park, with the mosaic terrace, the colonnade and views over the city. The paid Monumental Zone is a small part of the hill; the surrounding paths are walks on the slope.
Book a morning slot. The terrace is less crowded and the light is better for photos of the city.
Entry is by time slot and tickets must be bought in advance online. You can enter up to 30 minutes after the time on your ticket, and you cannot re-enter once you leave.
The park opens at 9:30 and ticket bands run until 19:30. The city lists longer summer hours and shorter winter hours, so the closing time moves earlier after the clocks change in late October.

Sagrada Família
Gaudí's unfinished basilica, still under construction. The visit covers the interior with its tall columns and stained glass. The towers are a separate add-on.
Take the earliest slot you can get. Security lines are shortest first thing.
Tickets are sold online only and entry is by time slot, so book before you travel. Choose a slot that leaves time to get through security.
Hours change by season. In October it opens Monday to Friday 9:00 to 19:00, Saturday 9:00 to 18:00 and Sunday 10:30 to 19:00. From November it closes at 18:00. Hours can change for events inside the basilica.

Gràcia
A former village that now sits inside the city, with small squares such as Plaça del Sol and Plaça de la Vila. It is local in character, with terraces, independent shops and few big monuments.
Come in the evening, when the squares fill with people. Gràcia is a good option if you have done the main sights and want a slower stretch.
