London Eye

The Eye opened in 2000 and stands 135 metres high on the South Bank. A full turn takes about 30 minutes in enclosed glass capsules that move slowly enough to board without stopping. On a clear day you see the river from Westminster to the City. Allow time for security and the queue before you board.

Hours change through the year and by day. Now it opens 11:00 to 18:00 Sunday to Thursday and 10:00 to 20:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. From 23 October it opens 10:00 to 20:30 daily. Closed for maintenance in January.

Tickets and booking

Adult ticket £39. Tickets bought online in advance start lower than the adult price at the gate, and the online price moves with demand. Fast Track tickets cost more and shorten the queue.

Book a timed ticket in advance. The time on the ticket is when you join the queue, and the wait can reach 45 minutes at peak times.

Getting there

Waterloo station (Jubilee, Northern and Bakerloo lines) is about five minutes on foot, and Westminster is a walk across the bridge.
