A sinopia is the first drawing of a fresco, traced in red earth pigment on the wall before the painter added plaster and colour. After the Camposanto burned in the Second World War, the frescoes were removed from the walls and the drawings under them came to light. They are shown here in a long hall built as a hospital for the poor, pilgrims and the sick. The museum is quiet and short.
