Work began in the 13th century on a site that had held a mosque, which is why the building mixes several styles. The cathedral requires visitors to use the audio guide, and the route continues into the cathedral museum. The Holy Chalice, which tradition links to the Last Supper, is shown in its own chapel. The Miguelete bell tower stands beside the church and is climbed on a narrow stair of about 200 steps.
