Natural History Museum
The museum opposite the Kunsthistorisches Museum, with minerals, dinosaurs, meteorites and prehistory. It is a good rain day choice for families and closed on Tuesdays.

The museum opened in 1889 and is the twin of the art museum across the square. Its halls cover minerals, dinosaurs, human prehistory and a large meteorite collection, and the new bird halls have recently reopened. The Venus of Willendorf is the best known object. Allow two hours, and expect school groups on weekday mornings.

Open Thursday to Monday 9:00 to 18:00 and Wednesday 9:00 to 20:00, closed Tuesdays. The last entry is half an hour before closing.

Tickets and booking
Adult ticket €18. A reduced price applies to children and others, and an annual pass is available.
Getting there
Volkstheater station on the U2 and U3 lines is a short walk.
Tip
Go on Wednesday evening, when it is open until 20:00, or on a quiet weekday morning.
