Cinquantenaire Park

A formal park laid out in 1880 for the 50th anniversary of Belgian independence, dominated by a triumphal arch. It works as a quiet stop between museums, and the arch frames the view along the avenue.

The park was laid out in the 1880s to mark 50 years of Belgian independence, and the triumphal arch with a bronze quadriga at its top is its centre. The wide paths lead to the Art and History Museum, the Royal Military Museum and the car museum Autoworld. It is a place for a walk or a rest on the lawns rather than a sight with a fixed schedule. Plan about an hour including the walk from the metro.
