One of the world's large collections of musical instruments, in an Art Nouveau building beside the Mont des Arts. A free multimedia guide plays the sound of the instruments as you walk past them.

The MIM holds instruments from around the world, spread over four floors. The multimedia guide is included with the ticket and plays recordings as you move from case to case. The building is Art Nouveau, with an iron and glass structure and stairs that are worth a look in themselves. Allow about two hours.

Tuesday to Friday 9:30 to 17:00, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 17:00. Ticket sales end at 16:00, the last entry is at 16:15 and the galleries close at 16:45. Closed on Mondays, 1 January, 1 May, 1 and 11 November and 25 December. On 24 and 31 December the museum closes at 15:00.

Tickets and booking

Adult ticket €18. The standard adult ticket includes the multimedia guide. Entry is free on the first Wednesday of each month from 13:00.

You can buy tickets online for a timed slot or at the desk. Show your printed or mobile ticket on arrival.

Getting there

Gare Centrale / Centraal Station on metro lines 1 and 5 is about 5 minutes away on foot, uphill.

Tip

Wear the headphones the whole way round. The sound is the point of the museum, and the guide is included with the ticket.
