The Place du Grand Sablon sits in the antiques district of the upper town and holds one of the oldest markets in Brussels, running since the 1960s. The church of Notre-Dame du Sablon overlooks the square, and the small garden opposite has statues of the old city guilds. The streets around the square are lined with galleries, antique shops and chocolate makers. A relaxed walk takes about an hour and a half.
