The bastion was built around the turn of the 20th century in a neo-Romanesque style, and its seven towers are usually linked to the seven Magyar tribes. It is a promenade rather than a fortress, with stairs and ramps between arcades. From the terraces you see the Danube, Margaret Island and the Parliament across the water. Matthias Church rises right behind it.

What to look for

  • The view of the Parliament across the river
  • The seven towers and white arcades
