The old port district north of the centre, with a harbourside street of cafes and restaurants and a different feel from the Old Town. It suits an evening visit or an easy half day with the yacht.

Leith was Scotland's main trading port in the eighteenth century and still has a working harbour. The Shore is the best known stretch, with old warehouses turned into restaurants and bars. The district has its own mix of residents, which gives it a lived in feel. Fish and seafood are the usual choice here.

The Shore tram stop is on the line from the city centre, and Lothian buses run down Leith Walk.

Go in the evening for a meal by the water, and combine it with the Royal Yacht Britannia in the afternoon.
