Piazza Gae Aulenti was designed by the architect Cesar Pelli and opened on 8 December 2012 as the centre of the Porta Nuova development. It is a circular platform about 80 metres across and ten metres above the street, ringed with canopies and three infinity fountains. Nearby, the two apartment towers of the Bosco Verticale carry trees on every balcony.

Always open.
Open at all hours. The Bosco Verticale towers are private residences and cannot be entered.

Getting there
Take M2 or M5 to Garibaldi and come up straight onto the square.
Tip
Walk the square at dusk, when the fountains light up, then continue through the park and the tree-covered towers nearby.
