Notre-Dame is the Gothic cathedral on the Île de la Cité, begun in the 12th century and badly damaged by the fire of April 2019. It reopened after the restoration in December 2024. You walk through the nave and along the side aisles, and the stone and the vault look new. It is a working church, so services run during the day and modest dress is asked for.
What to look for
- The restored stone and vault of the nave
- The rose windows in the transept
- The side chapels along the aisles
- The free organ recital on Sunday at 16:00, when it is on
