The church was designed by Andrea Palladio in the 16th century, with a white marble facade that you see from every point on the St Mark's waterfront. Inside, the space is plain and bright, with two large paintings by Tintoretto near the high altar. The island is quieter than the square across the water and gives you the reverse view of the city. The monastery buildings belong to a foundation and are not part of the visit.

What to look for

  • Palladio's white facade
  • Tintoretto's paintings near the high altar
