The tower collapsed in 1902 and was rebuilt in the same form, so what you see is a careful copy. A short lift ride takes you up to the belfry. From the gallery you look across the whole city, with the domes of the basilica below you, the island of San Giorgio across the basin and the lagoon beyond. The visit is short, and the queue is the main time cost.
What to look for
- The view over the Doge's Palace and the basilica domes
- San Giorgio Maggiore across the basin
- The red roofs and the lagoon
- The bells in the belfry

Tickets and booking
Adult ticket €15. The ticket is 15 euros. The free entry offered to residents of the diocese does not apply to the Campanile.
All tickets are named. Buy on the official ticket site before you go, since the same shop sells the basilica tickets.
Getting there
The tower stands in the square beside the basilica, a few minutes on foot from the San Zaccaria and San Marco Vallaresso vaporetto stops.
Tip
Go up on a clear afternoon for the best light. On foggy or hazy days the view over the lagoon is poor.
