The house was designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser and built between 1983 and 1985. It has no straight lines, and residents decorate the area around their own windows. More than 200 trees and shrubs grow on the balconies and roof terraces. Across the street, the Hundertwasser Village is a small shopping area in a former workshop, and the KunstHausWien museum is a few minutes away on foot.
