Wiener Riesenrad

The giant Ferris wheel in the Prater, in service since 1897. A turn takes about 12 to 15 minutes, and a Panorama Museum on Prater history is included.

The wheel is nearly 65 metres high and is billed as the oldest Ferris wheel in the world. The cabins turn slowly, so the ride is a calm look over the Prater, the Danube and the roofs of the Inner City. The Panorama Museum on Viennese history is part of the ticket. Around the wheel is the Wurstelprater, an old amusement park, which is free to walk through.

Open daily. From 5 October 2026 the hours are 10:00 to 21:45, and the times change over the year, with longer hours in summer. The official page shows the hours for each date.

Tickets and booking

Adult ticket: not confirmed. No advance reservation is needed, and tickets are sold online and at the cash desk. Online tickets are valid during opening hours on the booked date, while a flex ticket is valid for 365 days.

Getting there

Praterstern station on the U1 line and the S-Bahn is about a five minute walk through the Wurstelprater.
