Schönbrunn was the summer residence of the Habsburgs and was rebuilt in the 18th century under Maria Theresa. The standard palace tour walks the whole main floor with an audio guide, from the private rooms of Franz Joseph and Elisabeth to the ceremonial rooms and Maria Theresa's Rococo chambers. A shorter ticket covers only the state apartments. Outside, the park runs up to the Gloriette, and a combined visit takes between three and four hours.
