The State Opera opened in 1869 as one of the first buildings on the Ringstrasse and is among the busiest opera houses in the world. The standard tour starts in the foyer, climbs the grand staircase, passes through the state rooms and ends in the auditorium. Guides also explain how the house runs from day to day.
