Casa Milà was built by Gaudí between 1906 and 1912 for the Milà family, and locals nicknamed it La Pedrera, the stone quarry, for its rippling limestone facade. The building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The self-guided visit takes about an hour to an hour and a half. It climbs to the roof, where chimneys and ventilation towers form a field of sculpted figures, then goes down through the attic exhibition on Gaudí and a furnished apartment from the early 20th century.

What to look for

  • The roof chimneys and ventilation towers shaped like figures
  • The attic of brick arches, with the Gaudí exhibition
  • The furnished apartment from the early 20th century
