La Scala Museum

A small museum beside the opera house, with portraits, costumes and instruments from the history of the theatre. When there is no rehearsal, the ticket lets you look into the auditorium from the boxes.

The museum belongs to one of the best known opera houses and collects objects from its history. You pass through rooms of busts, paintings, theatre models, costumes and period instruments. The ticket also gives a look at the auditorium from the third order of boxes when the hall is free.

Open every day from 9:30 to 17:30, last admission at 17:00. Closed on 7, 25 and 26 December, 1 January, Easter, 1 May and 15 August. On 24 and 31 December it closes at 15:00.

Tickets and booking

Adult ticket €12. Children aged 6 and under, disabled visitors and guides enter free. Reduced tickets are for ages 6 to 18, students and seniors aged 65 and over.

Getting there

Take M1 or M3 to Duomo and walk through the Galleria to Piazza della Scala, where the museum entrance is at the side of the theatre.

Tip

Check the box view first: it is only open when there is no rehearsal, performance or event in the theatre. Weekday mornings are the quietest.
