The district was once a craft quarter and became known for nightlife and its role in the city's LGBTIQ+ scene. Today it is a popular residential area, with tree-lined streets, small streams and the Isar close at hand. Gärtnerplatz holds a theatre and a ring of cafes. There are no major sights, so the point is the atmosphere and a long coffee or evening drink.
