Pizza napoletana

A soft, charred, wood fired pizza, usually a margherita or a marinara. Eat it hot, at a table or folded in paper in the street.

Sfogliatella

A shell shaped pastry filled with ricotta and semolina, in a crisp riccia version or a soft frolla one. Eaten at the counter with an espresso.

Babà

A small yeast cake soaked in rum syrup, served as a dessert or a mid morning treat.

Cuoppo

A paper cone of fried street snacks such as fritters and croquettes, bought from a counter and eaten on the move.

Pasta e patate con provola

A thick, creamy dish of pasta and potato with smoked cheese melted through it. Common at lunch in the colder months.

Caffè

An espresso drunk standing at the bar, in a few sips. Sitting at a table usually costs more.

Every itinerary on this site keeps a lunch break after 12:30, so there is room for a proper meal in the middle of the day.
