The staircase rises from Piazza di Spagna to the church of Trinità dei Monti in broad flights with landings. At the foot is the Barcaccia fountain, and the streets of the main shopping district run off the square. The reason to climb is the view from the top over the rooftops toward St Peter's.

Spagna station on Metro Line A opens close to the foot of the steps.
Tip
Go early, before the steps fill up. In mid-April to mid-May the steps are decorated with azaleas.
