The Zattere is a long stretch of quay that gets more sun than the rest of the city. It looks across a wide channel to the island of Giudecca and Palladio's Redentore church, and it feels open after the narrow lanes inland. Locals walk here at the end of the day. The walk ends at Punta della Dogana, where the Grand Canal meets the basin.
What to look for
- The view across the Giudecca Canal to the Redentore
- The Gesuati church on the quay
- Punta della Dogana at the east end
- The long sunny benches along the water
Opening hours
Always open.

Getting there
The Zattere vaporetto stop is on the quay, and the walk from the Accademia takes about ten minutes.
Tip
Walk it in the late afternoon. It faces south, so it catches the sun and the light on Giudecca is at its best.
