Upper Belvedere
A Baroque palace with Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present, including the best known works of Klimt. The gardens between the Upper and Lower Belvedere are free to walk.

The Upper Belvedere was built as a summer palace for Prince Eugene of Savoy and is now a museum of Austrian art. Gustav Klimt's golden period is the main draw, with works by Schiele, Messerschmidt and Van Gogh nearby. The palace is a long building with a set route through the rooms, and the visit has no time limit. The gardens run down the slope towards the Lower Belvedere.

Open daily 9:00 to 18:00. The Lower Belvedere opens at 10:00. Belvedere 21 is closed from 5 October to 4 November 2026 for exhibition setup.

Tickets and booking
Adult ticket €23. The ticket is for the Upper Belvedere, and the official site sets the price for each day. Children and young people under 19 enter free, and there are reduced prices for students under 26 and for seniors.
Buy an online ticket and you go straight to the entrance without queuing at the desk. You select a time slot when you buy.
Getting there
Tram D stops at Schloss Belvedere, and the Hauptbahnhof is a ten minute walk from the upper entrance.
Tip
Start at opening with Klimt's Kiss, then walk down through the garden to the Lower Belvedere.
