Vondelpark opened in the 1860s as a landscaped park for the city's walkers and riders, and it is now the largest in central Amsterdam. Paths wind around ponds and lawns, with a rose garden, playgrounds and cafes. People cycle, jog, picnic and, in summer, watch concerts at the open air theatre. You can enter from several sides and cross it in about 20 minutes.
