Mauerpark lies along the line of the former border strip between Prenzlauer Berg and Wedding, and a stretch of the Wall still runs along its edge. On Sundays a flea market fills part of the park, with stalls mainly run by private dealers. A man has brought a battery powered karaoke system to the amphitheatre every Sunday since 2009, and a crowd gathers for it. The park is busy at weekends, and neighbours ask visitors to keep the noise down.
