The buildings that housed the Gestapo and the SS leadership were destroyed in the war and the site lay empty for decades. A long outdoor exhibition now runs beside the excavated cellar walls. Indoors, a documentation centre explains how the terror apparatus worked, with many photographs and documents. Parts of the original Wall stand along Niederkirchnerstraße, next to the site.

Tip

Go at midday or later, when you have energy. The exhibition is dense with text and rewards a slow visit.
