The Alcaicería was the Nasrid silk market. A fire destroyed most of it in 1843, and the lanes you walk now are a rebuilt version in the same style. Today the stalls sell crafts, marquetry and souvenirs. The lanes open onto Plaza Bib-Rambla, a wide square with a fountain and flower stands, and onto Zacatín, an old trading street that runs on to Plaza Nueva.
