The bridge opened in 1894. Two walkways high between the towers have glass floor panels over the road and the river. The exhibition explains how the bascules lift and shows the Victorian steam engines that once powered them in the Engine Rooms. Crossing the bridge on foot costs nothing, and lifts for tall ships follow a published schedule.
