Flaucher and the Isar
The best-known stretch of the Isar in the south of the city, with gravel banks, shallow channels and grass for picnics. It is a summer place for swimming and barbecues, close to the zoo at Hellabrunn.

The Flaucher stretches along the Isar between the Brudermühlbrücke and the southern city limit. The river here runs over wide gravel bars and splits into side channels. In summer people lay out blankets, grill and wade in the shallows. In other seasons it is a quiet river walk with wide views.

Opening hours
Always open.
The riverbank is open at all hours. In summer it fills up quickly, especially at weekends.

Getting there
Thalkirchen station (U3) is the usual way in, with a short walk to the river.
Tip
Check the water level and current before swimming. The river is cold and has weirs and strong flow in places.
