Foz sits at the west end of the city, several kilometres from Ribeira. The Passeio Alegre is a 19th century garden lined with palms, with a small chalet from 1874, and a path from it leads to Pastoras beach where the river meets the sea. A seafront promenade runs along the shore, with a pergola that serves as a viewpoint. It is the part of Porto people use for sea air and a long sunset.
