The garden sits above the Gaia end of Dom Luís I Bridge, near the Serra do Pilar monastery and the top station of the Gaia cable car. There is little to do except look: the river, the bridges, Ribeira and the roofs of Porto spread below. People gather on the lawns in the hour before sunset. From the old town it is a short flat walk across the upper deck of the bridge.

Jardim do Morro (Metro) is at the garden, one stop across the bridge from São Bento.
Tip
Arrive 40 minutes before sunset and bring a layer, because the hill is exposed to wind.
